Getting into your Writing Process
Seth shares tips from his own writing process - and talks about the importance of having one! Take a look at the video below to learn more about developing your own writing process in this week's writing tip.
Sometimes I like to journal before I get into the fiction and that will help me just sort of clear the decks of things that might be thinking about -- like my cat or my chicken or my daughter. It just sort of settles me in.
I like to write first thing in the morning and then get into the fiction from there.
BIG TIP: I find that if I can stop in a place -- I'll shoot for a word count that I want to go for. And then once I get past that word count -- I'll try to just stop in a place where I know what's going to happen next. And then the next day I'll pick up where I know the characters are getting to the top of the escalator or something like that. I know who's going to meet him up there, so then I just dive in and continue with the scene little pieces.
I don't always know where the whole story is going but I know little pieces and that's enough.
